Kabutomushi beetle

Here is Soei. I teach him English at his home every Saturday at 9 am-pheeew!
One of Soei’s hobbies is breeding and collecting Kabutomushi. In Japanese mushi means bug and Kabuto means samurai helmet with horns.

This hobby is extremely poplar among young Japanese boys.

Here’s one of Soei’s Kabutomushi. It’s about 3 inches long.
I’ve seen people dress these beetles up as Sumo wrestlers and enter competitions on T.V. Very funny.
If you can find a real big kabutomushi, you can easily sell it in Japan for 1,000 dollars or more.
